Speaking for Ourselves
comes with a 10-page Study Guide for youth and adult educators. The
Study Guide explores major themes in the documentary, provides
guidelines for discussion and tips for teachers presenting Speaking
for Ourselves in a classroom setting. Additionally, the relevant
statistics and resources included encourage discussion and
participation to enhance learning. Aside from identifying discussion
questions, a variety of exercises are also provided. Role playing,
debate, writing and listening exercises all contribute to audience
involvement in the issues presented, both individually and as a group.
The Study Guide is free with purchase of the

"This documentary shows how many youth, all too often dismissed as
simply 'troubled' or 'at-risk' are better understood when we see their
faces and hear their stories. By valuing the context of their lives,
we can appreciate how deserving they are of our support."
- Councilwoman Sherri Harris, Seattle City
Council
